Supporting Sustainable Governance in the NBL

From 2022 to 2024, TPG Advisory Group played a key role in supporting governance and financial oversight within the National Basketball League (NBL). During this period, we served as an Independent Member on a panel of Trustees established to assess applications from Clubs' seeking special financial dispensation.

This role involved the detailed review of financial and commercial submissions from participating Clubs', each presenting a unique operating context. TPG’s responsibilities included assessing financial statements, evaluating revenue models, and reviewing operational structures to determine the legitimacy and urgency of each club’s request for financial assistance.

The objective of the panel was to ensure a fair and transparent process that balanced the needs of individual Clubs' with the financial sustainability of the league as a whole. Our approach combined financial analysis with practical commercial understanding to help inform responsible decision-making across the competition.

This engagement reflects TPG Advisory Group’s ability to contribute in both advisory and governance capacities, particularly in high-performance and commercially sensitive environments. We are pleased to have supported the NBL in maintaining a stable and accountable financial framework during a critical period for the league and its member Clubs'.
